A West Australian family had been travelling home from a funeral when three passengers were killed in a horrific crash in the state’s remote midwest, 7 NEWS understands. A 33-year-old mother, a 21-year-old woman and a nine-week-old boy died when their Toyota Hilux rolled on Geraldton–Mount Magnet Road near Yalgoo on Saturday night. Three other occupants of the ute were taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious and critical injuries.
Mount Magnet Shire President Jim McGorman said the incident was “tragic” and “to lose three people is just incomprehensible”. “They went to school here - my wife taught two of the girls involved in the incident, so it is quite close to a lot of us,” he told 7NEWS. On Sunday, WA Premier Roger Cook said that “because of where that situation is, the first responders were largely volunteers”.
