A North Carolina Twitch streamer was struck by lightning during a live stream, sharing his surprising and unharmed experience with viewers.
A Twitch content creator in North Carolina, Christian Howard, also known as 'chrispymate' on the platform, had a terrifying yet fortunate encounter with lightning recently. While streaming live, Howard was struck by a bolt of lightning outside his Holly Springs home. The surge of electricity traveled through his computer and into his headphones, leaving him with a shocking, albeit temporary, experience.
Howard vividly described the sensation to FOX Weather, comparing it to the intensity of a heavy metal concert combined with the jolt of a gum stick gag toy. Video footage captured during his livestream shows the moment the lightning struck. Howard is seen at his computer when his webcam glitches. He instantly removes his headphones, throwing them to the ground as he jumps out of his chair. He then returns to his desk, leans towards his microphone, and confidently informs his viewers, 'Bro, I just got struck by lightning.'Thankfully, Howard did not suffer any injuries from the lightning strike and quickly ensured his cats were safe. The incident, however, did leave a lasting impression. Howard reported experiencing heightened strength the following day, leading to a remarkable workout session. He also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and concern from his online community. The chances of being struck by lightning in a given year are incredibly low, estimated at 1 in 1.43 million according to the National Lightning Safety Council (NLSC). While the odds of such an event are slim, Howard's story serves as a reminder of the unpredictable power of nature and the importance of staying vigilant during thunderstorms
