Like many other recent awards shows, Sunday's telecast was way down from 2020.
CBS' broadcast of the awards drew 7.89 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49, according to early Nielsen figures. That's less than half the audience of the 2020 show, which averaged about 16.54 million viewers and a 4.8 in the 18-49 demographic in preliminary numbers before adjusting to 18.69 million and 5.4 in the final ratings.
Ratings for the Grammys are not adjusted for the live telecast on the West Coast and also don't include out of home viewing. They'll come up some in the final figures, which will be available Tuesday morning, but aren't likely to bring it anywhere close to recent years. This story will be updated Tuesday with final figures.
