Tuscaloosa Academy senior quarterback Preston Lancaster was voted by fans as the inaugural AL.com Football Fans Player of the Year. He defeated several higher-seeded players in the three-week competition.

Lancaster was seeded 16th out of 16 Alabama high school players in the AL.com Player of the Year bracket. In three weeks of fan voting, he defeated top-seeded Alvin Henderson in Round 1, No. 9 seed Landon Duckworth in the quarterfinals and No. 12 seed Myles Johnson in the semifinals.Final round voting now open to determine AL.
