Turkeys from Heaven had a busy morning giving out over 2,000 meals to people in need. However, this year’s event didn’t come without challenges. This past Friday, the organization needed $50,000 more in donations to accomplish its mission. CO-founder Rebecca Marsella believes having one less week between Christmas and thanksgiving may have caused the low number of donations this year.“Groceries are more expensive than they have ever been so people are really enjoying this.
It used to be are we getting a turkey or ham but now they are just grateful that they are getting anything. We are just happy that we can do this and share with other people but I think what people don’t realize is that those of us that here preparing it are getting an even bigger blessing,“ Marsella said.
