There are five Fremont high schools that already have synthetic fields, but three have now been approved to be upgraded with newer synthetic turf instead of reverting back to grass. Here's a look at the pros and cons.

Last year Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law that allows local governments to ban artificial turf. Levin expects more regulation is coming, along with more information about the potential health impacts of plastic turf.
