Tupelo’s Link Centre celebrates creativity to build communityTupelo’s Link Centre celebrates creativity to build community by Melanie Deas and Shawn Brevard, Mississippi Today April 17, 2024 In December 2001, with the support of a diverse group of people, businesses, and community organizations, Link Centre opened on Main Street in Tupelo. Although at 17 years old, I vowed to never return to Mississippi, I found myself saying yes to the role of Executive Director in January 2007.
. Shawn married Tupelo native David Brevard in 1986 and moved with him to Tupelo where he runs his family concrete business and she has been active in nonprofit work for more than 30 years. She is a former member and past president of the Board of Directors for Tupelo Community Theatre, a founding board member and past president of Link Centre. She served on the Tupelo Public School District Board of Trustees from 2005-2009, the last two years as President.
