Notably missing from the list is Fletcher’s, the corny dog family that has been selling fried franks on a stick at the State Fair of Texas since 1942. They were approached for the A&E show but declined to participate, they say. “It takes a lot of energy and focus to successfully sell over 500,000 corny dogs a year,” they released in a statement. “The Fletcher family will be watching and rooting for our State Fair friends.”

The TV show gives “an inside look at how these imaginative foods come to life and the millions of dollars on the line for these family-run small business,” according to A&E’s website. They call it a deep-fried American Dream.
