The University of Tulsa fired former Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson from his head coaching position on Sunday morning after the Golden Hurricane lost their eighth game of the season.

Its the 11th head change in FBS. All are in the Group of 5 .Wilson failed to make it to the end of his second season with the Golden Hurricane and concluded his time at the school with a 7-16 record overall. The 2024 season in particular had not gone well for Wilson after guiding Tulsa to just a 3-8 record with just one win and six losses in AAC play this year. The defeat to USF yesterday served as the fifth this season in which the Golden Hurricane have lost by 32 points or more.
Tulsa hired former Texas A&M COO Justin Moore as the school's athletic director this past summer and it seems likely that the new AD wants to make his own decision about the football program's head coach moving forward. In a statement released Sunday morning, he thanked Wilson for his"devotion" to the school while wishing him and his family "nothing but the best.
Wilson previously served as Indiana's head coach from 2011-2016 and also holds offensive coordinator experience with Oklahoma, Northwestern and Miami in addition to Ohio State. His future in coaching remains unclear at the moment, but he could easily wind up as an offensive analyst on another FBS program's staff as many other coaches enduring early ousting have in recent seasons.
Tulsa will host Florida Atlantic next Saturday in the school's final game of the season, two weeks after the Owls dismissed another former Buckeye offensive coordinator as head coach in the form of Tom Herman.
