NHS healthcare assistant Alan, from Hull, said he had booked the getaway at the Riu Republica Hotel in Punta Cana for his wife's birthday.
A five-star luxury getaway turned into a holiday from hell for one couple who witnessed a body covered in a sheet, people having sex in public and guests vomiting and defecating in the hotel swimming pool.
Hull Live reports that despite paying almost £3,000 for the holiday, TUI responded to a complaint offering the couple counselling sessions and a £200 voucher. Alan, 50, said the resort was like a "party hotel", rife with people taking drugs, guests having sex in the pool and what he claimed was a worrying lack of security.
"When we went out to the pool for the first time, we saw guests smoking weed in the pool, people having sex in the pool, and it all felt really seedy. We saw one woman being sick all over herself in the pool, and another guest actually defecating in the pool – it was disgusting." "A woman fell from a balcony while we were there and we walked past and saw her body hidden under a sheet. It was really eerie as we had no idea what was going on.
Alan said the experience had ruined his wife's birthday celebrations. "She got really upset. I had to tell her I'd make it up to her on her 50th next year."
