, , will transfer to West Virginia, his father Darian DeVries announced Thursday at an event introducing him as the Mountaineers’ head coach. The 6-7, 210-pound wing averaged 21.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season for Drake, which won the Missouri Valley Conference tournament and lost to State as a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
DeVries made a killing as a sophomore running off all sorts of off-ball actions designed to get him open from long range. This season, DeVries became the primary playmaker for a team that won 28 games on their way to making a second straight NCAA Tournament. DeVries crushed it in ball screens, especially on early drag actions that got him loose for 3. Plus, Drake still used him off the ball with flare and pindown screens, too.
