Tuberculosis is rarely in the spotlight. But behind the scenes it’s one of the top infectious killers in the world. In 2022 alone, TB killed over 1.3 million people, including 167,000 people with HIV—that’s a staggering 25,000 deaths every week. Despite being a treatable and curable disease, the TB incidence rate rose by 3.9% between 2020 and 2022.
TB rivals Covid-19 as the world’s deadliest infectious disease, and is a greater threat to those living in the world’s poorest and most marginalized communities.
