Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, on loan at Sekhukhune United for the 2022/23 season, has revealed what has been bugging him from his stint at the Soweto giants.

Although Mabasa rejected the idea that his time at Pirates was a failure, he said he is disappointed with how everything turned out, especially in the last campaign. Since joining Pirates in 2019 from Bloemfontein Celtic, Mabasa has made 66 appearances with 18 goals to his name and an MTN8 trophy.“I still thought I’ve got plenty of years to go at the club and that I still had a lot to give, given the chance to. I’m happy with my contribution during the first season and obviously disappointed with how last season panned out,” Mabasa told Soccer Laduma in the latest edition.

“The lack of opportunities to play last season… that’s pretty much the only thing I can say is bugging me from my time at Pirates. I wouldn’t sup up my time at Pirates as a failure, not at all. Personally, perhaps a bit disappointed with how it turned out, but I wouldn’t say I let myself down in any way.“I did the best that I could given everything that was happening around me and the team.
