With former Bafana Bafana defender, Tsepo Masilela is left with a little over three months on his contract with AmaZulu FC, the KwaZulu-Natal club is appearing to have made a decision on the veteran’s future.
Masilela has struggled for game time this season, having made only four appearances in Usuthu’s stuttering season.Prior to the start of the season, AmaZulu offered Masilela a one-year contract extension to keep him in Benni McCarthy’s team as part of the preparations for the CAF Champions League, while the Durban-based club decided against keeping Siphiwe Tshabalala on its books.
Masilela made 10 appearances in the league last season, having initially joined the club in 2019 as a free agent. Indications from sources close to AmaZulu are that the former Kaizer Chiefs star, who will be turning 37 in May, is unlikely to have his services retained beyond the current campaign. “As things stand, AmaZulu have no plans to keep Tsepo Masilela beyond the current season. His contract will be coming to an end in June and the club is having no plans to extend the deal,” said the source.
As reported by the Siya crew, former Cape Town City Edmilson Dove has been earmarked by Usuthu with a view of possibly signing him at the end of the season to bolster the team’s left-back position.
