Just before 7:30 a.m., airport officials said passengers were seeing up to 90-minute wait times at the security checkpoint. However, wait times quickly died down without the need to open a secondary security checkpoint. By 8:30 a.m., officials said the wait times had been lowered to under 30 minutes.Flyers nationwide have reported longer-than-normal wait times when going through TSA security checkpoints as agents continue to work unpaid due to the ongoing partial government shutdown. On Wednesday, more than 11% of TSA employees across the country scheduled to work - over 3,120 workers - called out, according to the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees TSA operations. Since the partial shutdown began, nearly 500 of the agency's roughly 50,000 security officers have quit. The U.S. Senate passed a funding bill Friday morning that would see funds return for TSA, as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Coast Guard.
