British publication specifically says the couple is looking for a home in Malibu. Both outlets are wrong. For starters, Markle can’t secure British citizenship if she spends more than 270 days outside of the U.K. in the three years following her marriage to Prince Harry. This makes a move to the United States entirely out of the question.. The story was based on the fictional idea that the former actress wanted to return to Los Angeles after Prince Harry told her that he didn’t want her to put her acting career on hold. This narrative didn’t make a lick of sense.
Not only has Markle willingly and completely retired from acting, but her most recent role — seven seasons on the legal drama— was filmed almost entirely in Toronto. There’s no reason she’d want to “return to LA” after not spending all that much time there in the first place.
