The US president said top American executives joining his China trip would seek new business deals as the two sides prepare for high-stakes discussions on trade, AI, Taiwan and the Iran war.

US leader Donald Trump said he would ask President Xi Jinping to 'open up' China to US business when the two meet in Beijing this week for high-stakes talks.

'I will be asking President Xi, a Leader of extraordinary distinction, to 'open up' China so that these brilliant people can work their magic, and help bring the People's Republic to an even higher level! ' Trump wrote on social media on Tuesday, referring to US business CEOs accompanying him on the trip.

Trump has invited executives from some of the biggest US companies, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, BlackRock's CEO Larry Fink, and Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, to join his trip to China. The executives are expected to participate in meetings aimed at securing business deals and purchase agreements with Beijing.

The summit agenda is expected to cover trade, artificial intelligence, export controls, Taiwan, and the Iran war, with both sides entering the talks after weeks of escalating tensions over AI technology, sanctions, and rare earth exports.
