In an exclusive interview with Meet the Press, Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) says there should be “accountability” for Justice Department officials involved in Donald Trump’s investigations, as Pam Bondi is expected to be nominated as President-elect Trump’s attorney general.

Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., on Sunday suggested that one of President-elect Donald Trump's first priorities of his new term should be to fire any staff in the Justice Department who worked on cases that involved charges against Trump. 'First and foremost, the people involved with this should be fired immediately,' Schmitt said during an interview on NBC News' 'Meet the Press.

I think that getting it back to crime fighting is important, but there has to be accountability for these kinds of abuses.' Trump repeatedly attacked the Justice Department while on the campaign trail this year and detailed what they would expect from the department if elected. Trump, for one, has often said he would pardon the over one thousand supporters who have been charged with crimes related to storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
