WASHINGTON - President Trump on Friday said Texas Rep. John Ratcliffe would no longer be considered as the nation's next intelligence chief.
In a tweet, Trump said Ratcliffe decided to stay in Congress instead of "going through months of slander and libel" from his opponents. Democrats vowed to fight Ratcliffe's nomination due to concerns about his experience and charges that he inflated his resume. They also contend that Ratcliffe would not be as independent voice like outgoing chief Dan Coats.
