The New York Times demoted a deputy Washington editor for his offensive tweets. Donald Trump, however, says that's not enough. He wants him fired
an “enormous apology” from author and Times op-ed contributor Roxane Gay after she criticized him for a widely mocked post.
Weisman met Tuesday with Times executive editor Dean Baquet “and apologized for his recent serious lapses in judgment,” a Times spokesperson said in a statement to POLITICO. “As a consequence of his actions, he has been demoted and will no longer be overseeing the team that covers Congress or be active on social media,” the spokesperson said.
