And what ever happened to the other three cases against him—Jack Smith’s federal election interference and classified documents cases, and Fani Willis’ Georgia election interference case? All three have hit various roadblocks.
While Donald Trump was on the campaign trail making his final pitch to voters, Jack Smith has been on his mind—specifically, Trump has been threatening to fire Smith and kick him out of the country if he wins the election. Meanwhile, the former president’s attorneys were busy filing a new motion to dismiss Smith’s election interference case, using the same argument that successfully killed the classified documents case.. During both appearances, he railed against special counsel Jack Smith.
Trump’s attorneys are hoping to strike gold again with these arguments after successfully applying them in Smith’s classified documents case. However, this time they are appealing to Judge Tanya Chutkan, the D.C. District Court judge overseeing this case, who has consistently said she will not allow politics to play a role in her decisionmaking. Trump’s defense team is asking to have Smith’s entire Jan.
