If President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, takes place Saturday as planned, it won't be far from locations deeply connected to what's considered the worst racial attack in U.S. history.

Citing coronavirus concerns, Vice President Mike Pence told"Fox and Friends" that the campaign was considering moving the rally to anOn May 30, Dick Rowland, 19, a Black shoe shiner, was accused of attempting to rape Sarah Page, 17, a white elevator operator in the Drexel Building. About 75 armed Black men went to the courthouse to protect Rowland from being lynched. About 1,500 whites gathered and followed them back to the Greenwood District, where they burned buildings and shot Black residents on May 31 and June 1.

The Drexel Building, second from the right in the 1921 photo, was demolished in 1924. The tall building to the far right, which stands today, is the Reunion Center, built in 1917 as a bank.Black people were rounded up and held at the Convention Hall during the massacre. The hall, now with an addition on the front, is known as the Brady Theater.Houses in the 500 block of North Detroit Avenue were among those burned. This area is part of the Oklahoma State University-Tulsa campus.
