After Friday's rally in South Carolina, Trump is expected to travel to Washington, D.C. to deliver the closing remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference. While Democrats will get to cast votes for their preferred candidate on Saturday, this year's Republican primary in South Carolina has been canceled.
That motion was challenged by an October 2019 lawsuit from former Republican Representative Bob Inglis and businessman Frank Heindel, claiming their right to vote would be violated by the decision. Their suit was dismissed by Judge Jocelyn Newman in December 2019."The General Assembly vested political parties with the sole discretion whether to hold presidential preference primaries," Newman wrote in her ruling,"meaning they are not held as a matter of right.
