President Trump kicked off his State of the Union address highlighting economic gains under his administration, and trying to draw a contrast with the Obama administration.

The U.S. economy has been growing since the end of the last recession in 2009, albeit at a pace that lagged previous economic expansions. Mr. Trump argued that his policies -- a reversal of what he called the “failed” policies of Presient Obama -- have given the economy an extra boost. Unemployment rates among African Americans , Hispanics and Latinos and Asians , as well as workers without a high school diploma , were at all-time lows in December. The unemployment rate for women, at 3.5%, was the lowest in almost 70 years.
