President Donald Trump announced a pause on enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), arguing that it hinders U.S. competitiveness in foreign markets. The 1977 law prohibits U.S. citizens and companies from bribing foreign governments. The White House claims the move will level the playing field for American businesses, while critics argue it weakens anti-bribery efforts and undermines the rule of law.
