President-elect Donald Trump gave his first TV interview since the election with NBC's 'Meet the Press' that aired on Sunday.

FILE - President-elect Donald Trump speaks during a meeting with the House GOP conference, Nov. 13, 2024, in Washington. Trump spoke with Kristen Welker, emphasizing how he plans to implement his campaign promises once he takes office on Jan. 20.

Trump spoke on his deportation plans as well as his plans to end birthright citizenship. He said he would start the mass deportations of convicted criminals first. Trump did suggest that he would want to protect Dreamers - individuals who grew up in the United States after being brought into the country illegally by their parents.

Expanding on his first term as president, Trump said that he wants to work on extending the tax cuts that were originally passed. He also said that he would levy tariffs on imports from countries such as Mexico, Canada, and China, but was uncertain when asked if he was able to "guarantee American families won't pay more" from his tariff plan.
