For decades, Guantanamo Bay was primarily utilized for detaining foreigners linked to the September 11, 2001, attacks.President Trump has proposed the facility as a holding center, asserting it has the capacity to accommodate up to 30,000 individuals. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who served at Guantanamo Bay during his active duty, characterized it as a 'perfect place' to house migrants. In recent days, additional U.S. troops have been deployed to the facility to assist in its preparation. Furthermore, the U.S. conducted a flight to return Indian migrants to India on Monday, and this flight was ongoing as of midday Tuesday, the U.S. official stated.
