President Donald Trump started offering at least 2 million federal employees buyouts on Tuesday as a way to encourage them to resign now that he has taken office. “If you choose not to continue in your current role in the federal workforce, we thank you for your service to your country and you will be provided with a dignified, fair departure from the federal government utilizing a deferred resignation program," according to a memo the Office of Personnel Management sent the workers. "This program begins effective January 28 and is available to all federal employees until February 6.

The memo lists four directives it said Trump is mandating for the federal workforce, including that most workers return to their offices full-time.
