The Trump administration is edging closer to a compromise with House Democrats and labor officials over changes to its North American trade agreement, clearing the way for a deal to be announced as soon as late Monday

Before those conversations, Trumka told POLITICO in a brief text exchange Monday morning that a deal has “not yet” been finalized, “regardless of what’s said.""No agreement to announce yet," the aide added.saying a deal could be announced as soon as Monday or later this week. A backing by the AFL-CIO would be a marked departure from past practices, as the federation has not endorsed any trade deal in nearly two decades. The labor group could also agree to remain publicly neutral on the new agreement, which would still give many Democrats cover to support it.
Democrats have also demanded stricter enforcement of the pact's labor standards and asked for inspections of Mexican factories. Ebrard flatly rejected the inspections idea, so it remains unclear if the issue has been fully resolved and whether labor will support the pact without that provision.
