President Donald Trump announced the former North Carolina representative's appointment via Twitter Friday evening.
that he would not seek reelection in 2020, and was said to be angling for a position in Trump's cabinet. Though when he announced his retirement from the House there was"no plan in place" to offer Meadows a role in Trump's administration, Meadows said that he had discussions with Trump"on how we can work more closely together in the future.
"Now what they're doing is they're telling the American people that 233 Democrats deserve to decide who the president of the United States should be and disenfranchise 63 million voters," Meadows said at the time.
