President Trump dismissed HuffPost as 'dead' when a reporter representing the news outlet inquired about Vice President JD Vance's recent statement regarding judicial overreach.

President Donald Trump dismissed the credibility of news outlet HuffPost, asserting that he believed it had ceased to exist, during a Sunday press exchange concerning statements made by Vice President JD Vance regarding judicial overreach. A reporter at a press conference aboard Air Force One inquired about Vance's comment that if the Supreme Court delivered a ruling unfavorable to the executive branch, they could unilaterally enforce their preferred outcome.

'JD Vance suggested that if the Supreme Court rules in a way that you don't like, they could just enforce it by themselves,' the reporter posed to Trump. 'Do you agree with that?'The reporter's question stemmed from Vance's assertion that 'judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power.' Vance made this statement on X (formerly Twitter) following a federal judge's decision that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) would be prohibited from accessing Treasury Department resources and data systems. 'If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal,' Vance wrote. 'If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that’s also illegal. Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.'However, when confronted about Vance's remarks, Trump professed ignorance regarding the controversy. 'I don't know even what you're talking about,' Trump replied. 'Neither do you. Who are you with?' The reporter identified themselves as representing 'HuffPost.' 'Oh, no wonder,' Trump retorted. 'I thought they, I thought they died. Are they still around? I haven't read them in years. I thought they died.' A HuffPost spokesperson downplayed Trump's dismissive remark. 'His loss — perhaps his biggest since 2020. Millions of Americans are tuning into HuffPost's coverage to stay informed about the consequences of Trump's presidency,' the spokesperson told Fox News Digital. Addressing the court ruling that blocked DOGE's access to Treasury Department resources, Trump criticized the presiding judge, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York Paul Engelmayer. 'No, I disagree with it 100%. I think it's crazy,' Trump stated in an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier. 'And we have to solve the efficiency problem. We have to solve the fraud, waste, abuse, all the things that have gone into the government. You take a look at the USAID, the kind of fraud in there.'
