President Trump welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House, marking Netanyahu as the first foreign leader to meet with Trump since his inauguration. The meeting coincided with ongoing negotiations for Phase 2 of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

President Trump greeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu upon his arrival at the North Portico of the White House on Tuesday. Netanyahu 's visit marked his status as the first foreign leader to meet with President Trump since his inauguration last month. He and Trump are scheduled to hold a press conference later in the evening. Netanyahu 's trip coincides with ongoing negotiations for Phase 2 of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas .

Phase 1 of the deal centered on the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners. Steve Witkoff, the president's envoy to the Middle East, stated his hope for a successful completion of Phase 1, ensuring the safe return of all hostages, including remains. Phase 2 aims to formally end the war with Hamas and secure the release of all remaining Israeli hostages held captive in Gaza. Witkoff expressed optimism that all parties involved would reach a mutually agreeable solution. He also revealed that he would be meeting with Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Florida on Thursday to further discuss the negotiations. Qatar has played a crucial role in mediating the ceasefire deal.Trump has publicly expressed a desire for Jordan and Egypt to accommodate Palestinians residing in Gaza, though both countries have declined this proposal. 'I think they should get a good, fresh, beautiful piece of land, and we get some people to put up the money to build it and make it nice and make it habitable and enjoyable,' Trump stated. He clarified that the U.S. has no intention of funding the relocation of Palestinians to neighboring countries. Trump dismissed the notion that such a move would constitute forced displacement. 'They have no alternative right now. I mean, they're there because they have no alternative. What do they have? It is a big pile of rubble right now. I mean, have you seen the pictures of it? Have you been there? It's terrible to live. Who can live like that? And very dangerous,' Trump commented on the living conditions in Gaza, where approximately 2 million people reside in one of the world's most densely populated areas. When questioned about the possibility of Palestinians returning to Gaza after reconstruction, Trump expressed his hope that the situation would be so improved that they wouldn't wish to return. 'That place has been hell,' he stated. Netanyahu, meanwhile, expressed confidence that the chances for progress on the ceasefire increase when the United States and Israel collaborate, particularly when working alongside Trump. On Tuesday, Trump signed two executive orders pertaining to the Middle East. One order aims to exert 'maximum' pressure on Iran. Trump admitted to feeling conflicted about signing it. 'I'm signing this and I'm unhappy to do it but I have not so much choice because we have to be strong and firm,' he explained, adding that he hopes the order will not be necessary. He reiterated the U.S.'s stance that Iran cannot acquire nuclear weapons and asserted the country's right to block the sale of Iranian oil to other nations. The second order withdrew the U.S. from the United Nations Human Rights Council and halted aid to the United Nations Relief Works Agency, the primary organization providing assistance to Palestinians
