Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's arrival at the G20 earlier this week, China’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Zhang Jun announced that China would not allow the recent record-breaking protests in Hong Kong to be discussed at the summit. Zhang reiterated China’s belief that Hong Kong affairs are Chinese domestic affairs in which “any foreign force has no rights to interfere.”
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has also said that he expected Trump to raise the Hong Kong protests with Xi at the G20.
