Trump reportedly wants to shift the focus from public health to economic “success stories,” a move that comes as even his Republican allies are frustrated by his rambling appearances

to hold heading into the 2020 election. He didn’t hold a weekend briefing and Monday’s scheduled briefing was canceled. Pivoting later this week to economy could allow Trump to get back into the public eye after a brief retreat and focus on an issue he appears more comfortable discussing and that is central to his reelection campaign.

For now, though, the economic focus out of the White House could give Trump something to talk about that isn’t the theoretical healing properties of a Lysol shot to the lungs. That may provide some small relief to Trump’s supporters, who worry his coronavirus briefings are hurting him politically, and for everyone else, who long ago tired of his circus.
