Trump's former national security advisor will say in a forthcoming book that politically self-serving deals like the one Trump sought with Ukraine 'existed across the full range of his foreign policy.'

A spokesman for the National Security Council did not respond to a request for comment Friday from CNBC on the newly released details "I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning," Trump tweeted on Sept. 10.
