(Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images), the Political Management program director at George Washington University, said immigration won’t be an easy lift for Trump’s administration.

“There will be half measures, or quarter measures, or even less, given the absolute magnitude of the cost and logistical requirements, not to mention that this is not going to make for very good“I think that there will be some implementation of the deportations,” Belt continued. “I believe that ... it's going to be going after criminals first, as he said. I think that will be part of what he does through executive order.” Congress holds the purse strings, and Trump might find resistance to some of his costly immigration plans from not only Democrats, but deficit-concerned Republicans.Belt said immigration enforcement money could be put into a homeland security bill or a larger immigration bill. “And what we know about immigration bills is they are incredibly difficult to negotiate, and the devil is truly in the details on those,” he said. The results, published Thursday, show Americans are most confident in Trump’s ability to control illegal immigration – 68% say he’ll be successful at that. Americans are most pessimistic in Trump’s ability to heal political divisions. Just 33% believe the incoming president can find success there. Majorities think Trump will be able to reduce unemployment, keep the U.S. safe from terrorism, improve the economy, keep the country out of war, cut taxes and reduce crime. Most folks don’t think Trump will be able to reduce grocery prices, improve conditions for minorities or the poor, substantially reduce the federal deficit, improve education, improve race relations, improve the health care system, or improve the quality of the environment
