The poll was released as DeSantis, Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley — the only other declared Republican candidate — are touring or plan to visit the Hawkeye State.. Haley has spent three consecutive days in the state this week, while former vice president Mike Pence — who has not yet formally announced a run — is scheduled to visit next weekend.Sixty-three percent of independent Iowa voters have an unfavorable view of the former president. Only 33% view DeSantis unfavorably.
The former president is scheduled to give a speech on education in Davenport Monday night, just three days after DeSantis made remarks there. The Iowa Poll surveyed 257 self-described Republicans by telephone between March 5 and 8, with a margin of error of plus-or-minus 6.1 percentage points.
