The probe is tied to the case against two foreign-born Giuliani associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman,at an airport with one-way tickets out of the country. They were charged with conspiracy, lying to the Federal Election Commission and falsifying records. The indictment also alleges they made illegal donations to a then-sitting U.S. congressman in order to evade federal contribution limits, and that Parnas had asked that congressman for assistance in getting the U.S. to remove Yovanovitch.
