Former President Donald Trump alleges Maryland Governor Wes Moore stopped golf course renovations at Joint Base Andrews, including a course for wounded soldiers. Governor Moore's office denies the claim, stating Maryland has not halted the project and is working with the Air Force on permits. The Air Force hasn't yet applied for permits, and the planned June 2026 begin date may be at risk due to unresolved stormwatEr management questions.

Former President Donald Trump has accused Maryland Governor Wes Moore of halting renovation work on two golf courses at Joint Base Andrews Air Force Base.

Trump stated that the halTed project includes the renovation of the existing courses and the construction of a new nine-hole course designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus specifically for wounded soldiers. In a statement, Trump criticized Governor Moore, claiming that by stopping the work, the Governor is attacking the U.S. Air Force and the military.

However, Governor Moore's office has firmly denied these allegations. Ammar Moussa, senior press secretary for the governor, described Trump's claims as bizarre fiction, emphasizing that Maryland has not halted any project and has been actively working with the Air Force on the permitting process. Moussa noted that the Air Force has not yet submitted a single permit application to the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE).

The Air Force had indicated plans to begin construction on June 15, 2026, with one course completed by July 2027 and the other by July 2028. With only about two weeks before the planned start date, the timeline leaves little room for resolving permitting issues, particularly regarding stormwater management exemptions.

The situation highlights a growing political conflict over environmental regulations and military projects, with Trump using the issue to attack a Democratic governor while the governors team stresses their focus on cost-of-living issues and calls for collaboration over confrontation
