Trump announced the release of documents covering what he termed five major areas of concern, including claims that China conducted what he described as the largest compromise of election data in history, acquiring 220 million U.S. voter files with sensitive information. These disclosures, he argued, reveal an election system so broken and vulnerable that no one can defend it. The address comes as some Republicans push for changes to federal voting laws ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The allegations of a stolen or rigged 2020 election have been thoroughly investigated and repeatedly found to lack credible evidence. Dozens of lawsuits challenging the outcome were dismissed by state and federal courts, including judges appointed by both Republican and Democratic presidents, because they failed to present evidence of fraud on a scale that could have altered the result.
In 2022, a group of prominent conservative legal experts, including former federal judges and Republican election attorney Benjamin Ginsberg, released a report titled Lost, Not Stolen, concluding that Joe Biden was the legitimate winner and that there was absolutely no evidence of fraud sufficient to change the outcome. He claimed that hundreds of millions of voter files are in foreign hands, machines are exposed to hacking, and evidence of fraud has been buried, despite widespread debunking of such claims.
