Former President Donald Trump said one of his aides, Walt Nauta, also had been indicted by the grand jury that looked into classified documents stored at the ex-president's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Andrew Leipold, a law professor at the University of Illinois who served as a consultant on special counsel Kenneth W. Starr’s Whitewater investigation, said it is not surprising that another person was indicted in the case.
“Trump wasn’t the one going through the boxes or cutting them open so this is no surprise,” Mr. Leipold said.Prosecutors will want him to acknowledge mistakes before putting him on the stand, so he appears credible. “If the government wants him to testify against Trump, you need him to plead guilty to something,” Mr. Leipold said.
