In the weeks and months leading up to the 2024 election, Donald Trump spent part of his time campaigning as a victim of wrongful legal action.

Trump was indicted on four felony counts for his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. During that time, Smith was leading an independent investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents and alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results."That is the group within the DOJ that is looking to say that the Biden DOJ was weaponized against at that time candidate, Trump and others in his orbit, and that Jack Smith was the big leader of that," said Former U.S. Attorney John P. Fishwick Jr. in an interview with The National News Desk. That group, established this year under the leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi, illustrates what has become a far-reaching goal of the Trump administration - trying to make the case of a previously weaponized Justice Department and FBI. That includes making public, previously classified information, in an attempt to try to bring "evidence" to those arguments and also to change the narrative. Contained within that annex is what appears to be a July 27, 2016, email that said Hillary Clinton approved an idea about Trump and Russian hackers hampering our elections to distract from her email scandal.The new information that has been revealed by the Director of National Intelligence and by the FBI, eliminates any scintilla of doubt about the intention, premeditation, the planning and orchestration of this conspiracy. The alleged sender of the email, Leonard Bernardo, told Durham he had never seen the message and did not write it. Durham himself eventually concluded it was likely manufactured, as critics say Trump is simply doing what he accused others of doing - weaponizing the federal government.former Attorney General Eric Holder said, "Well, this is a weaponization of the Justice Department and the law enforcement capacities of the federal government. It's also an attempt to deflect attention from that which really afflicts the president and his administration right now, which is the release of the Epstein files."
