Stretching from Florida to Houston, the I-10 corridor is essential for connecting states like Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Currently, traffic is flowing smoothly, but local travel centers are packed with truck drivers who describe today as a “race to safety.”Travel Center shared their experiences of working tirelessly to get ahead of the storm. Jose Fernandez, a truck driver, said he is already a day and a half ahead of schedule.

Despite their efforts, uncertainties remain. The National Weather Service predicts Beaumont could see up to five inches of snow, which might disrupt routes along the I-10 corridor. “I might wake up and spend the whole day here tomorrow,” Mobley added. The storm’s mix of rain, freezing rain, snow, and sleet is expected to begin tonight and last into tomorrow, with an additional two inches of snow possible.

“I’m about 13 hours from my destination in Mount Vernon,” Fernandez continued. “I’ve left early to ensure I have time to stop if needed and still make it there by Wednesday. If those tires aren’t rolling, I’m not making any money.”As truckers prepare for potential delays, the community is also bracing for the storm. The National Weather Service warns that a mix of precipitation will begin tonight and could make roads treacherous through tomorrow.
