Northbound and southbound lanes near exit 15 on I-95 are reportedly closed due to a truck on fire near the Fairfield Ave overpass in Norwalk."Fairfield Ave is closed to all traffic from Connecticut Ave to Cedar Street due to a truck fire on I-95," police posted.FOX 5 NY's Ines Rosales says there was an accident involved near the overpass but it is unclear what exactly caused the incident. Emergency Services are working to extinguish the petroleum truck on fire.
The area in Norwalk will remain closed for an extended period of time, according to Connecticut state police. "We are currently unable to anticipate the duration of this closure. Please seek alternate routes and plan for significant traffic delays," police posted on X. Commuters in the area should find alternate routes.Secretary Pete Buttigieg says to heed local authorities on detours and to avoid the area if possible. The govern will hold a news conference on the incident at 9:30 a.m.
