ST. JOSEPH TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The driver of a semitrailer-truck rammed a police vehicle in southwestern Michigan, crashed it into a home, tried to flee and was fatally shot by an officer, officials said.
St. Joseph Township officers responded to a request Monday evening to check on the welfare of the 42-year-old driver from Tennessee, who then drove his truck into a police vehicle, The truck then was driven a short distance before crashing into a home. Police said the driver tried to run and then got into an altercation with an officer, who shot him.The officer suffered minor injuries and has been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.PRESCOTT, Ariz. — It’s shaping up to be a long wildfire season, with Texas already seeing its largest blaze in recorded history and firefighters becoming overwhelmed with recent blazes in Virginia.

Fatal Exchange of Gunfire in Hamilton Township Leaves Officer HospitalizedA domestic incident turned into a fatal exchange of gunfire in Hamilton Township and an officer was hospitalized as a result of that exchange. Two officers responded to a domestic call on the 1800 block of Orchard Avenue Friday night around 10 p.m., officials said. When they arrived, the officers encountered a man with a rifle who opened fire on them. The officers then returned fire and in that exchange, the man was struck and killed. One of the officers was hit multiple times by gunshots. That officer was taken to a nearby hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Officials believe the officer will survive. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey Attorney General's Office are investigating the incident.
