'We're gonna save the planet together!' 👀
The anecdote goes like this: Troye says he got a call from his manager, who explained that she had been speaking with Greta’s father — or so she thought. He was told that the young climate activist wanted to partner with him on a project called “Stars Save the Earth,” and needless to say, he was extremely psyched about the prospect. “I was like, ‘Oh my god, this girl is so inspiring,’” he recounted on IG.
Fortunately, it didn’t take either Troye or his manager long to realize they had been duped. In the clip, Troye went on to explain that his manager ultimately watched a YouTube video of Greta’sfather, which led her to realize that the man she had spoken to on the phone sounded completely different. Oops?
“She was like, 'T, I don’t know how to tell you this, but I think we got catfished by a fake Greta Thunberg,'” Troye recalled. It seems as though Troye is taking the whole thing in stride, or at least using it as a learning tool for going forward. “The fact that my ego was big enough to be like ‘Yeah, Greta Thunberg just wants to chill, she’s a big fan, we’re gonna save the planet together, this is gonna be f*ckin sick’ just completely mortified me,” he said. “And it also made me cry laughing.”
