Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman gets the attention of current quarterback Dak Prescott during warmups before a Wild Card Playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, January 16, 2023.and didn’t. He and the Cowboys offense were held to 10 points in Dallas’ loss to San Francisco and Prescott has been at the center of criticism for his three-interception performance.
The passing game hasn’t been effective for the Cowboys this year, especially in losses. Prescott has just five passing touchdowns to four interceptions. Aikman pointed out that Prescott has a career-high 69.4% completion on passes, but a career-low 9.6 yards per completion.“They’re really not getting the ball down the field, and a lot of short throws,” Aikman said.
“Brandin Cooks, in my opinion, he’s the best route runner on the team and yet couldn’t really do anything,” Aikman. “There’s not a lot of people who can cover him one-on-one, but yet, you know, there wasn’t a lot of opportunity for him. So yeah, I do think that you look at that tape. And there’s a lot that the Cowboys will learn from and do differently, whether it’s in this week’s game if presented with the same style or if they were to meet up with San Francisco again.
