Tropical Storm Sally drenched parts of South Florida overnight and is moving a little faster Sunday toward a landfall overnight Monday on the northern Gulf Coast, with rising chances for a life-threatening storm surge.
Sally continues to get a little better organized over night and the maximum sustained winds are now 60 mph, the National Hurricane Center said in an 11 a.m. update. In northern Florida, a tropical storm warning is now in effect for coastal areas of Escambia, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties. A flash flood watch is in effect for portions of the state's Big Bend and western Panhandle as bands of heavy showers move over the coast.
The National Weather Service office in Miami also reported 3.07 inches of rain in Florida Gardens in Palm Beach County on Saturday.
