TROPICAL storm 'Jenny' (international name Koinu) maintained its strength as it accelerated west-southwestward over the Philippine sea, the weather agency said Saturday.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the center of tropical storm Jenny was seen at 1,025 kilometers east of Central Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph.'Tropical storm Jenny is not directly affecting the country at this time.
However, due to the proximity of the track forecast to extreme Northern Luzon, heavy rainfall over Batanes and Babuyan Islands may be experienced on Tuesday or Wednesday,' Pagasa said.The weather agency said Jenny is forecast to move generally northwestward until Monday and may move west-northwestward toward the Luzon Strait-Southern Taiwan area on Tuesday.
