Tropical Storm Ileana will likely develop late Thursday or early Friday and track to Baja California, but will some moisture reach Texas?
An area of low atmospheric pressure is strengthening and becoming more organized in the eastern Pacific Ocean . As of 10 a.m. Thursday, a tropical depression has formed about 160 miles southwest of Puerto Vallarta , Mexico , the National Hurricane Center said. Sustained winds are estimated at 35 mph. Environmental conditions appear favorable for some additional development, and the National Hurricane Center expects the depression will become a tropical storm by late Thursday or early Friday.
The best chance of rain will be from Del Rio, south to Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley. San Antonio will have a chance of rain, too, but overall chances are only about 20% in the Alamo City. Rainfall totals will generally be light. The regions in South Texas that see rain will likely get less than a half-inch of accumulation. A few isolated locations could see up to an inch.
